Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. Check out her blog for more info!
Happy Tuesday, bookworms! Today’s topic is cozy winter reads, and I am definitely in the mood for those! This list includes both books I’m looking forward to reading this winter AND books that remind me of the Christmas season, snow, or cozy fireplaces. In no particular order:
ONE: Snow in Love by Melissa de la Cruz,
TWO: Merry and Bright by Debbie Macomber
THREE: A Stone Creek Christmas by Linda Lael Miller
I figured I’d start with the three I’m reading for my chosen holiday readathon. I’m so excited to dive into these! If you want more info, check out my post from yesterday!
FOUR: The Harry Potter series
Harry Potter will always and forever remind me of Christmas. I’m not really sure why that is, except that their Christmas scenes are so great, both in the books and movies. Regardless, it’s always a world I want to return to around the holidays.
FIVE: One Day in December by Josie Silver
I actually haven’t read this book yet, but come on…it literally has December in the title. This was one of the Book of the Month picks this month, and let’s just say it caught my eye.
SIX: The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick
I’m actually not sure why this book is always one I think about reading around the holidays. Maybe it’s because it reminds me that no matter how bad things get, true family and friends will always be there for you.
SEVEN: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Ok, here me out on this one: for me, Christmas is a time for love and family, whether it’s blood relations or a family you’ve made for yourself. And this book has the best damn found family I’ve ever seen.
EIGHT: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
What a childhood classic! This book just screams winter; after all, it is set in a place that’s been stuck in eternal winter. I know my dear friend Melanie is hosting a read along of this in December, so if you’re interested check it out!
NINE: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Again, another book (and movie – who else loved the adaptation with Winona Ryder?) that reminds me of Christmastime. Maybe because I love this family so damn much, but this book from my childhood will always make me think of a warm fireplace surrounded by loved ones.
TEN: The Lord of the Rings books by J.R.R. Tolkein
I actually tried to read these when I was in middle school/high school and didn’t make it through them very well, although I do like the movies. (Considering doing a reread of these in the new year – anybody interested in a buddy read?) For some reason, both the books and the movies remind me of winter. I know people absolutely LOVE these books, so I’m anxious to give them another try.
And that’s it everybody! Some of these are on my winter TBR, but most are just books that remind me of snow and fireplaces and family. I hope you all have a great reading season!
xoxo

Another great selection of books! I really need to look into Snow in Love. It sounds super adorable and reminds me of another holiday collection from Scholastic that I used to read, like, a decade ago (which incidentally included Melissa de la Cruz as well) and I am intrigued!
